· Bruce Springsteen appeared on the covers of both Newsweek and Time, a move which embarrassed both magazines. Rock Chronicle edited by Dan Formento states, “The magazines spotlight Springsteen as a typical example of how publicists and the media can create a rock star, regardless of his talent. It becomes apparent that the two weekly giants have simply added to the hype they fervently criticise The publicity accelerates Bruce’s career”
