· The Rolling Stones’s Bill Wyman secretly married 19-year-old Mandy Smith. His 28-year-old son was Best Man, and all Stones’ members attended. As an extra twist, Wyman’s son dated Mandy’s mum!
1993
· Ronald Ray Howard’s murder trial began in Austin, Texas. Howard killed a state trooper after listening to Tupac Shakur’s 2Pacalypse Now album. He was convicted and sentenced to death
1995
· Stone Roses’ John Squire smashed his collarbone in a cycling accident; major gigs for the band had to be cancelled
2002
· It was reported that Paul McCartney threw his fiancée Heather Mills’ engagement ring out of a hotel window during a row. Guards searched the grounds with metal detectors and found the £15,000 ring
2003
· A painting of Kylie Minogue in gold hotpants caused traffic problems in Brighton, when the artist put an almost life-sized picture on display in his Art Asylum Gallery. Motorists were causing traffic hold-up problems as they slowed down for a second look
