He claimed to have contacted Buddy Holly during séances, and his penchant for making “Holly-influenced” records suggests that the shooting, occurring on the 8th anniversary of Holly’s death, was more than a coincidence

The department had no idea they were about to tear down the house associated with the town’s most famous son. However, few days earlier, someone had bought the place, moved it intact outside the city limits as a home for his family, also unaware of its significance. He became the man who accidentally saved Buddy Holly’s birthplace
